Day 01 – Taiyuan/Pingyao
On arrival into Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, transfer by car to Pingyao.
Day 02 – Pingyao
Founded in the 14th century, Pingyao has been known as an outstanding example of a traditional Han Chinese town. It was the banking centre for the whole of China in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today visit the Ancient Town and City Wall. Later, continue on to the Ming & Qing Street and Rishengchang Exchange Shop, said to be the first draft bank of China built in 1823. B/L/D
Day 03 – Pingyao/Nanjing
A half day tour to Qiao Family’s Compound has been organized for today. Build in 1775; this exquisite and exceptionally well-preserved structure was the residence of a successful merchant Mr Qiao Zhiyong during Qing Dynasty. In the afternoon drive back to Taiyuan for your evening flight to Nanjing. B/L
Day 04 – Nanjing/Huangshan
You have the morning at leisure before taking an afternoon train to Huangshan, the Yellow Mountain in Anhui Province. The local guide will meet you on arrival and transfer you to the hotel. B
Day 05 – Yixian Villages
Today visit two villages in nearby Yixian County. Hong Cun, with a history of over 1000 years, is an ox-shaped village, famous for its idyllic landscapes. Xidi, is a village of more than 300 residences built in Ming and Qing Dynasties, it is characterized by its architectural art of wood, stone and brick carving. B/L/D
Day 06 – Huangshan
Transfer to the Huangshan Scenic Area today, then take the cable car up the mountain and visit West and North Sea areas. Enjoy the stunning views of odd-shaped pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds and hot springs. Stay at the top of the mountain this evening. B/L/D
Day 07 – Huangshan/Shanghai
Start the day by going down the mountain by cable car and be driven to Tunxi, the political and commercial hub of Huangshan. Explore the Old Street in the afternoon before being transferred to the airport for your evening flight to Shanghai. B/L
Day 08 – Shanghai
Get some rest this morning. In the afternoon, head to Zhujiajiao, a 1,700-year-old water village, the closest to Shanghai. B/D
Day 09 – Shanghai/Guilin
This morning, fly to the Limestone Mountain region city of Guilin. On arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel. B/D
Day 10 – Guilin/Yangshuo
Begin with a half day Li River Cruise. The 45-mile journey to Yangshuo glides through a landscape of natural beauty of mist, shrouded crags and bamboo groves that have inspired painters and poets for centuries. In the afternoon, why not hire a bicycle and enjoy the fantastic scenery and watch the locals as they tend the fields? Or shop in the market and then relax in one of many cafes soaking up the local atmosphere. B/L
Day 11 – Yangshuo
Today will be spent cruising on the Yulong River; it is a paradise thanks to its green hills, silky water and ancient bridges. Continuing along to Xanadu, a primitive minority village and have a glimpse at the folk culture and tranquil surroundings. B/L/D
Day 12 – Yangshuo/Guilin
Transfer to Guilin airport for your departure flight. B
