Day 01 – Beijing
Your culinary journey starts in Beijing, on arrival you are met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
Day 02 – Beijing
In the morning, visit the Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China which covers 294 hectares. Have lunch at the Hall for Listening to Orioles where the empress Dowager Cixi used to enjoy her meal and watch her favorite Beijing Opera. In the afternoon, see the iconic picture of Chairman Mao by visiting Ti’ananmen Square and venture into the Forbidden City. Dinner has been arranged at Fangshan Restaurant in Beihai Park, which was built in 1925 by former Royal chefs of the Qing Dynasty. B/L/D
Day 03 – Beijing
Today it is time to explore the awe-inspiring Great Wall of China at Badaling. Here immerse yourself in its history and walk along a section of the wall. Following this, visit the Ming Tombs, specifically Chang Ling and the Sacred Road. Dinner at Roast Duck Restaurant, here see how the legendary Peking Duck is prepared. B/L/D
Day 04 – Beijing
In the morning visit the largest temple complex in China, the Temple of Heaven.
Then get a glimpse of authentic China by rickshaw, riding through local Hutongs. This is followed by a lesson in dumpling making and lunch with a local family. In the afternoon transfer to the Beijing Yuanda Culinary School to learn about Beijings local food and imperial dishes. B/L/D
Day 05 – Beijing/Xi’an
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the ancient capital of Xi’an today. After lunch at local restaurant, visit the City Wall and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Dinner is at Defachang Dumpling Restaurant; established in 1936. The restaurant is famous for its Dumpling Banquet; here you have the chance to taste more than 15 different dumplings including dessert. B/L/D
Day 06 – Xi’an
Today get ready to visit the fascinating archaeological discovery of the Terracotta Warriors, followed by lunch at the local restaurant in the Terracotta Warriors Museum. Visit the Huaqing Hot Springs in the afternoon. Tonight enjoy special local soup of beef or mutton at Tongshengxiang Restaurant. Here break the wheat bread into pieces; when it is all done, restaurant staff will cook it and then bring back the broth of beef or mutton of your choice. B/L/D
Day 07 – Xi’an/Chengdu
After breakfast you are transferred to the airport for your short flight to Chengdu, famous for its spicy cuisine. On arrival, visit the local Panda Centre. Dinner is at Little Swan Restaurant; here enjoy the famous Sichuan Hot Pot. B/L/D
Day 08 – Chengdu/Leshan/Chengdu
Today admire Leshan, the home of the tallest sitting Buddha in the world and have lunch at a local Leshan restaurant. In the afternoon, travel back to Chengdu and visit the Wenshu Temple, and then join the locals at a Tea House. Enjoy another spicy night in a local restaurant for Sichuan Cuisine. B/L/D
Day 09 – Chengdu/Guangzhou
This morning take a transfer to the airport for your flight to Guangzhou. Go to a local restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, visit Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memoral Hall, built in 1931. Dr. Sun Yat-sen is considered to be the pioneer of China’s bourgeois democratic revolution. Also visit Chen’s Ancestral Temple (home of the Canton Art craft museum), built with incredible wooden sculptures on the roofs, pillars and beams. Afterwards a traditional Cantonese Garden Arts and Tea ceremony has been organized. Dinner is at Guangzhou restaurant, one of the most famous for its Cantonese Cuisine. B/L/D
Day 10 – Guangzhou
Take a morning tour to the King’s Mausoleum of NanYue, more than 2000 years old. It is considered to be one of the top five of Chinese archaeology discoveries in 20th Century. Afterwards visit the Porcelain Museum. Lunch is at the Cantonese Dim-Sum Meal. In the afternoon learn how to cook in the well-known seafood of China. Why not join the chefs and try to cook dinner for your fellow travellers? This evening take a two hour river cruise on the Pearl River. A buffet-dinner is arranged on the cruise. B/L/D
Day 11 – Guangzhou
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. B |
