Shanghai 2010 Expo - The Expo is a platform for countries around the world to promote and
inform visitors of their contributions of the modern ages. Each country’s Pavilion has its individual
and unique characteristics. The Chinese
Pavilion is designed with the concept of an Oriental Crown, and can be seen as
an inverted pagoda. The UK Pavilion was
developed by Thomas Heatherwick. Its
most prominent feature are some 60,000 transparent rods that act as
glow-in-the-dark optic fibres. At night,
the glow emanating from the rods resembles a cathedral of light.
